NGolo Kante is a French professional football player who plays as a defensive midfielder for the English club Chelsea and the France national team. Kante was born on March 29, 1991, in Saint-Pierre, Réunion, an island in the Indian Ocean. He began his career with JS Saint-Pierroise before moving to Boulogne in 2010. He spent two years with Boulogne before joining Caen in 2013.
Kante's breakthrough season came in 2015–16 when he helped Leicester City win the Premier League title; he was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year. The following season, he won a second consecutive Premier League title after moving to Chelsea. In 2018, Kante helped France win the FIFA World Cup, becoming only the second African player to do so after Roger Milla.
NGolo Kante's football career began when he was just a child growing up in Paris. His talent was quickly recognized by local youth clubs and he was soon snapped up by Lille. He made his professional debut for them in 2012 and quickly became an integral part of their team. In 2015, he helped them win the Ligue 1 title and was named the league's best player.
